Barbara Patterson attended
the teacher education program at the Waldorf Institute of Southern California and was an early childhood teacher at
Highland Hall Waldorf School in Northridge, CA for three years. Upon moving to Chicago, she operated River Park Children’s
Garden out of her home for eight years.
From 1993 she was both a teacher and a member of the Board
of Directors of Great Oak School in Evanston, IL. There her work included consulting, mentoring, teaching parent-child
classes, as well as early childhood classes. She is also on the faculty of Arcturus, a Waldorf Teacher Education program
in Chicago. Barbara currently teaches parent-child classes at the Oakland Steiner School in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
She is the mother of three and a grandmother.
Pamela Bradley is a long time public relations consultant, teacher, and mother of two former Chicago
Waldorf School students. She was the editor of The Home Court Advantage by Mayer Eisenstein, MD, A
Midwife Reflects by Kay Furay and numerous other publications about the safety and advisability of home birth. Pamela
has a Master of Arts degree from New York University and is a published poet and repeat student at the University of
Iowa Summer Writing Festival. She was co-editor of the successful annual Chicago Waldorf School calendar. Pam lives in
Chicago with her husband and two daughters and is currently writing a family memoir.
Jean Riordan attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and is an alumna of the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago. Her artwork ranges from fashion to fine art. She met Barbara Patterson in 1987 and worked closely with her
for the next six years, the first two years as an enthusiastic parent creating many of the things for the room and the
children. Afterwards, she became an assistant and then co-taught with Barbara at River Park Children’s Garden.
Jean lives in Chicago with her husband and three sons.
